Grotte de la Salamandre

Welcome to the Grotte de la Salamandre, Incroyable par Nature: it's just as much for those who enjoy sightseeing as for those who are looking for a variety of sensations or a new adventure. The interpretation trail marks the start of the experience in the heart of unspoilt nature.

Share your emotions through five different tour options:

- The Belvedere and its incredible panoramic view, accessible by wheelchair (unique in Europe)
- The Guided Tour, a fascinating one-hour journey through an enormous space adorned with splendid titanic concretions set off by light and sound;
- For adrenalin-seekers, the Grand Rappel: a 50-metre descent through the ceiling of the immense chamber, with friends or family. Emotion guaranteed and... shared!
- Les Coulisses de la Salamandre: 2h30 of caving in the Grotte's hidden chambers, a captivating tour that's fun, aesthetic and a little sporty all the same.
- The extraordinary flight in an Aéroplume©, a unique experience that lets you discover the Grotto from the air. After slipping into a cocoon attached to the underside of the balloon, the pilot moves smoothly thanks to his two large "fins".
The site is constantly alive with events such as the Trail des Avens, unusual tours and the many Mardis Live concerts in season.

Outside, eco-responsible buildings are covered with solar panels, producing most of the energy used to light the Grotto. The reception structure, nestled into the cliffside, houses a pretty boutique selling original items, as well as a refreshment bar offering tasty treats on the magnificent terrace overlooking the wild, unspoilt garrigue. In the immediate vicinity, the "accro-bambino" allows the little ones to experience their own adventure on a suspended course surrounded by safety nets. While waiting for the visit or to extend the moment, children accompanied by their parents can join the Rivière aux Pépites located on our picnic area, equipped with a bag of sand available in our store. As they sift through the sand, they'll gradually discover some lovely minerals, and the lucky ones may even find a (small) gold nugget!
