Seeing the Pont d’Arc for the first time is a very emotional experience. A natural archway more than 55 metres high, 60 metres wide, spanning the clear water of a tumultuous river… the Pont d’Arc is a magnificent and unique work of art.

Nearly le Pont d’Arc

The Pont d’Arc is a classified site since 1982, in a zone that extends beyond the natural archway.
Downstream from the Pont d’Arc begin the famous Gorges de l’Ardèche, wild and impressiv. Thousands of tourists have the pleasure of canoeing down the river every year.
Upstream, Vallon-Pont-d’Arc is a peaceful village in winter and very animated in summer.
The Gorges de l’Ardèche nature reserve, extends over 1500 hectares. You can discover an exceptional flora and fauna.

How the Pont d’Arc was created

The water has dug through the limestone for millennia and then form a natural bridge.
The Pont d’Arc is not the only natural archway in the world but it is unique in its size and in the fact that a river still flows under its arch.

La grotte Chauvet-Pont d’Arc

In 1994, the discovery of la Grotte Chauvet-Pont d’Arc shook up prehistoric lovers all over the world. A huge cave decorated with more than 400 representations of animals dating back more than 30,000 years.
A real unique prehistoric cave whose restitution space is opened to the public since 2014.
